First, Happy New Year to one and all. Kayla and Nana have joined us for the holidays. It’s great having them here. Now onto the results for Photo of the Year 2014.
Honorable Mention #1: Sunrise over the Himalayas received strong support, but not enough to crack the top 5
Honorable Mention #2: The Future. The story of the Pardada Pardadi school touched so many people. A voter from Chicago commented: “This shows the youthful promise of hope and ambition, two attractive human endeavors.”
Here now are the top 5 photos of 2014. In 5th place, Experience. This photo was taken in July, exiting the metro stairs in Old Delhi. Every wrinkle tells a story.
Capturing 4th place is Cafeteria. “The most visually impressive of pictures from a very impressive school,” wrote one voter.
Senior Jump landed in 3rd place. “A great capstone picture of Kayla’s experience in India,” says it all.
The race for the top slot was a “photo finish” with the final outcome determined by only one vote. Second place goes to Tri-color Pride. “Amazed you were not arrested for this or targeted by the Pakistani army,” cautioned one voter.
And winner of the #1 Photo of the Year goes to Sikh Boys. “Greg looks very convincing as a sardar boy,” wrote an Indian colleague. Oddly enough, the top two photos were taken the same weekend in Amritsar, and also oddly enough, I did not take either photo. All the best for a great start to the new year. ts
